Dear Parents,

This week, students have been learning about how every day we have to make choices in life. Some choices are easy, like what we want to eat for breakfast. Others are hard, such as I wanted to stay in bed this morning and not come to school. When we make good choices, good things can happen. Sometimes our friends may not make the best choices but just because our friend makes a poor choice, doesn’t mean you have to do the same thing. We do the right thing whether someone is watching or not - that is called integrity.

Black History Month: February marks Black History Month and we are proud to celebrate it here in the ECC. Throughout the month, students engage in meaningful activities, art lessons and literature lessons. Members from our Upper School Black Student Association collaborated with several ECC classes. They visited the ECC and read literature centered around black history. We are grateful for the partnership between Upper School and ECC and the mentors they serve to our youngest learners

Lunar New Year Dragon Dancers: Today, the ECC students enjoyed traveling to the main campus to watch and celebrate the Lunar New Year. Our community wore red in honor of the Lunar New Year. Did you know that Dragon Dancers are trained performers who use poles to manipulate a long, flexible dragon puppet? Usually seen during Lunar New Year, they perform to bring good luck and prosperity and to ward off evil spirits. What a treat it was to have them on campus!

February 27- Parent-Teacher Conference Day (NO SCHOOL): Next Friday, February 27, we will be hosting our February Parent-Teacher Conferences. During these gatherings, teachers will share progress notes and goals for the school year. Please be sure that you have accessed the Sign-Up Genius link via your child’s Seesaw account and secured a time to meet.

College Colloquium—Now Virtual

College Colloquium, Oakridge College Advising’s signature event, has been rescheduled and will now take place virtually on Wednesday, February 25, at 7:00 PM. This program offers families and students a rare opportunity to hear directly from senior college admission leaders about today’s evolving admission landscape. Whether your student is just beginning the college journey or actively preparing applications, this evening will provide clarity, insight, and confidence. Registration details coming soon. We hope you’ll join us!

Warm regards,

Ashley Read, Oakridge Class of 2005

The Oakridge School presents a brand-new musical: String

String is an original, imaginative musical that brings the Greek Fates to life in a bold new way. Having been cast off Mount Olympus, the Fates are sent to Earth to continue weaving the tapestry of the universe—learning, along the way, what it truly means to be human. Through powerful music and storytelling, String explores fate, free will, and the threads that bind us all together. Join us for this exciting new musical and experience a story as timeless as myth and as human as now. ✨ Tickets: $10 (all sales online) Purchase tickets online!
