Jim Haddock has been associated with The Oakridge School since 2008 and has served as a Regent since 2012.  In August 2018, Jim was named Chairman of the Board of Regents.  Prior to being appointed Board Chair, Jim was Chairman of the Finance Committee for two years and he also served on the following Committees: Building and Grounds, Long Range Planning, Development, Regents and Executive.  Jim, with his wife, Lara, served as Annual Fund Chairs in 2012.

Jim and Lara are the proud parents of Jack ’22 and Kate ’25, as well as James, a recent University of Arkansas graduate.  With more than  20 years of experience in real estate, Jim is President of Haddock Interests, a real estate development company focused on land development, home building and investments.  Jim’s previous board experience includes Southwest Bank (including Loan, Audit, Trust & HR Committees), National Association of Home Builders, Texas Association of Builders (Life Director), Fort Worth Builders Association (Board President), Boys & Girls Club of Arlington (Board President), and Fort Worth Lighthouse for the Blind (Board President).

The Oakridge School Leadership Society recognizes annual leadership by Oakridge’s most dedicated donors. The perpetual earnings generated from endowment funds play a critical role in shaping the future of The Oakridge School by supporting general operations, faculty and staff, student financial aid, and facilities that define and enhance the overall experience.  Investing in the endowment is the most effective way to make a change in the School’s long-term financial health.  Below is a list of all named endowment funds at The Oakridge School. We encourage additional gifts at any level to existing endowment funds. You may establish a permanent named endowment fund with a minimum gift of $25,000.If you are interested in learning more, please contact Lauren Matocha, Director of Development, at 817.563.9742.

Henderson/Ethridge Endowment for Professional Development
Established in 1996 by J.L. Henderson, Jr. and Jeanette Ethridge Henderson to provide professional development for the faculty and staff of The Oakridge School to further their education through advanced degrees; attending conferences, workshops, and conventions; and bringing noted speakers to campus. For over two decades, the Henderson’s have been an active part of the Oakridge family.  The endowment is in memory of Marion and Mary Ethel Ethridge and Jess and Opal Henderson.

The Owl Club’s mission is to promote school spirit, character development, and the physical well-being of our students through financial and other forms of support for Physical Education and Athletic programs in every division. The Owl Club welcomes new members and volunteers. Most importantly, we have great fun attending the games and showing our school spirit for our fine athletes and coaches and for the entire Oakridge family. The Owl Club raises money through memberships, concession sales, merchandise sales from the Spirit Store, and the annual Oakridge Golf Classic. Proceeds from fundraising efforts are used to purchase needed equipment and necessities for our physical education programs (age 3—grade 6) and our athletic teams (gr. 7-12). The Owl Club also provides food, volunteers and/or support for athletic events, and dinner for officials for all the home football games.

The Owl Club was not able to host their annual Golf Classic fundraiser in 2019-2020 due to Covid 19. However, with the proceeds from annual memberships and spirit merchandise sales, The Owl Club was proud to allocate the following:

• $10,000 to the Oakridge Athletic Complex Baseball/Softball Complex - 4 Wheeler, 2 Pro L Screens, 4 Fungo Screens, Drag Mat, Nail/Spike Drag, 2 Portable Ball Carts, Pitching Machine

The Owl Club was not able to host their annual Golf Classic fundraiser in 2019-2020 due to Covid 19.

Of all of the fundraising events during the year, The Oakridge School Super Supper & Auction commands the biggest guest list and the loudest celebration.  A Night In Africa - An Oakridge Safari  welcomed 350-plus guests at the Fort Worth Zoo and raised more than $250,000 for the operating budget. Ryan Worthington '99 chaired the event and led a committee of volunteers and a group of day-of volunteers.  The auction serves a purpose every year in that it meets the School’s operating needs while providing a fantastic gathering for the Owl community. Special thanks to the sponsors/underwriters, attendees, and auction donors.

The Oakridge Parents' Club enriches the lives of the students and families at The Oakridge School by planning and hosting memorable grade level, divisional, and campus wide events. Members and volunteers generously give their time and resources. Fundraising done through membership dues, Uniform Resale events, and Boosterthon, allow the OPC to host events and give back to the school. 

The Oakridge Parents' Club (OPC) was not able to host their annual fundraiser in 2019-2020 due to Covid-19. However, the OPC was able to donate $5,000 to the Angel Fund and with the proceeds from the annual Book Fair, the OPC was proud to allocate $5,866.06 to the Oakridge Library ($3,100 in cash and $2,766.06 in Scholastic Dollars).

Opportunities to Give

Annual Fund
Annual contributions are the most direct way you can support The Oakridge School’s tradition of academic excellence. The Annual Fund secures vital unrestricted funds that go directly into the operating budget to support Oakridge’s teaching programs, meet highest priority needs, and provide seed money for important new initiatives. Tuition covers approximately 95% of the operating budget; consequently, the Annual Fund helps make up the difference between the cost of tuition and the actual cost of educating each student.

Capital Campaigns
Capital campaigns are conducted to provide significant funds for growth such as endowment, construction/renovation, or extensive equipment purchases. Contributions are generally pledged over three to five years.

Gifts to Endowment
The Oakridge School’s endowment is a collection of various restricted and unrestricted endowment and scholarship funds. While endowments are established through sizable initial gifts, they also grow through smaller ongoing gifts. Endowment is an independent school’s savings account and provides a reliable source of income in perpetuity.

Planned Giving
The Oakridge School greatly encourages and appreciates future gifts made through one’s estate. Bequests are the most common way for donors to make their ultimate gift to the school. If you are interested in learning more about gift planning, we are happy to help you determine how and when to make a gift and with what assets.

Securities, Property, Real Estate
Gifts of Appreciated Securities, Stocks, and Bonds provide considerable tax advantages when transferred to The Oakridge School.

Matching Gifts
Many employers match gifts made by their current, as well as retired, employees. This is a simple way to double your gift to The Oakridge School. Contact your employer or human resources offices for the form needed to match your gift to Oakridge and let us know that a matching gift will be coming.

Restricted or In-Kind Gifts
You may wish to earmark your gift for a specific area of the school. We will be happy to designate your gift toward a specific division or project.

Gifts can be made in many ways: online, by phone, by mail, gifts of stock, donor advised funds, and matching gifts.

Outrights gifts: one-time gifts made by any of the following methods: Cash, Check, Credit Card, Securities, Donor advised funds or foundations

One-year pledge: a written communication to pay any fixed amount within the current fiscal year. These can be set up by mailed pledge form or through the Development Office. The pledge is to be paid by the end of the fiscal year (August 31) and are payable in any form.

Recurring gift: an easy and affordable way to divide a larger gift into manageable payments. Recurring gifts can be made with a credit card. A gift of any amount can be scheduled monthly, quarterly, or annually. Arrangements for a recurring gift can be made online, via paper giving form, or in person in the Development Office.
