Getting Involved at The Oakridge School
Every school needs an active group of volunteers to thrive. Serving as a volunteer enriches your family’s experience at The Oakridge School. The Oakridge Parents’ Club and The Owl Fan Club are great ways to start.
Oakridge Parents’ Club
The purpose of The Oakridge Parents’ Club (OPC) is to assist the faculty, staff, administration, and Board of Regents in providing for the educational enrichment of the students, to promote the fellowship of the families and staff of The Oakridge School, and to raise funds to accomplish these objectives. Your membership benefits your children throughout the year. Visit the Oakridge Parents’ Club page on the Oakridge website for more information, theoakridgeschool.org/parentsclub.
The Owl Fan Club .
The Owl Fan Club’s mission is to promote school spirit, character development, and the physical well-being of our students through financial and other means of support for physical education programs, athletic programs, and fine arts in every division. The Owl Fan Club raises money through concession and merchandise sales from the Spirit Store. The Spirit Store is located on the main campus next to the Library and is open periodically throughout the year. Our online store can always be accessed at theoakridgeschool.org/spiritstore. Additionally, merchandise is sold at select events such as the Oakridge Back-to-School Bash and home varsity football games. Proceeds from these sales are used to purchase items for our athletic and arts programs. The largest fundraising opportunity is at our annual Oakridge Golf Classic in the spring. The Owl Fan Club provides food, volunteers, and support for athletic and arts events.
Security
Security at The Oakridge School requires everyone in our community to comply with our policies in order to keep our students and faculty safe. Oakridge uses car tags, parent badges, and locked gates/doors as parts of the security procedures. More information will be shared once the school year begins, however, at the Back to School Bash, parents will receive their annual security badges and lanyards. Please bring your driver's license to this event. Additionally, car tags will be distributed at divisional Parent Nights. We are a closed campus, and we do not allow deliveries from anyone other than family members.
After-School Programs & Extended Day
At The Oakridge School, school days do not end when classes are over. Sample offerings of after-school programs include After School Art, Musical Theatre, and Tae Kwon Do. Additional information can be found on the school website at https://www.theoakridgeschool.org/campus-life/extendedday.
For Tae Kwon Do classes, please contact Donna Holtman at (817) 845-7735 or owlstkd@gmail.com.
The Owls’ Nest is a service provided to students in the Early Childhood Center and Lower School waiting for their Oakridge siblings in a different division to get out of school. It is also available for students who use our bus system. For families with students in multiple divisions, this service allows parents to come for one convenient carpool time for all children.
The Oakridge School also provides extended after-school childcare. Details for the 24-25 school year will be available on the website soon.

School Supplies
Early Childhood Center - All supplies will be provided by the school.
Lower School - The school supply list is posted on the Parent Portal. If you prefer, you can order prepackaged school supplies. Contact the Lower School office (lsoffice@theoakridgeschool.org) to order. Pre-ordered supplies will be in your child’s classroom on the first day of school. If you do not pre-order supplies, you can bring your supplies to the Meet the Teacher/Back-to-School Bash.
Middle School - Students will be expected to have pens, pencils, paper, and an organization system of their choice (e.g. binder). Details for any additional supplies needed for a particular class will be given in the individual course syllabus during the first week of school. Students will be issued a school-owned iPad, charging brick, and cable. A list of recommended cases will be provided. Families are responsible for securing a case before the student receives the iPad.
Upper School - No additional supplies are needed before the school start date. Once classes begin, your child will be informed of individual class needs. Students are required to bring their laptops. Laptop specifications are located on the school website under Academics>Technology. If you have questions about this, please contact the Upper School office.
School Uniforms
School uniforms must be purchased from DENNIS Uniform at their area store (6080 S. Hulen St., Suite 390, Fort Worth, TX 76132, 817.563,7100) or online at dennisuniform.com. Our school code is M10252. You will find that the employees at DENNIS are familiar with our dress code, and they will help you make appropriate choices for each division.
Throughout the year, The Oakridge Parents’ Club offers uniform resale where you may shop for gently used uniforms at a discounted rate. Your first opportunity to do so will be at the Back-to-School Bash. Donations of gently used uniforms are gladly accepted in the drop-off container outside the Parents’ Club building.
Summer Programs and Summer Reading
Summer programs are a great way for your child to get familiar with the campus, meet faculty, and future classmates. The schedule is available at theoakridgeschool.org/summerprograms.
At Oakridge, we hope all students discover their passions and interests in ways that stimulate curiosity and a love of learning. To that end, we would like to share ways our Owls can immerse themselves this summer in experiences that kindle their curiosity through service, the arts, science, technology, culture, reading, and sports.
The ideas presented are optional, yet your teachers look forward to learning how you embraced this opportunity to expand your horizons. Please watch for more details in early June, and visit our website under Campus Life, Summer Reading for more information.
Health and Wellness
The Oakridge Health Department welcomes you to our school family. Our team of health care professionals strives to provide your child with the most comprehensive, highest quality individual health care available in a professional, efficient, compassionate, and service-oriented manner. At Oakridge, we serve the health and wellness of the entire school community - students, families, faculty, and staff. We are proud to offer a comprehensive school health and wellness program that addresses the physical, psychological, social, and emotional dimensions of health.
Interprofessional collaboration between the school nurse and athletic trainers foster a positive impact on the overall health of the school community. We work together to coordinate health care and provide wellness services. This shared approach efficiently meets the needs of the student body. At Oakridge, optimal health and academic success are synergistic goals.
The office of Nurse Kim Campbell-Martinez is centrally located on the first floor of the Upper School, while the office of Athletic Trainer Adam Campbell is located in the Student Activity Center (SAC). You may contact the Nurse’s office at 817.451.4994 ext. 2714 and the Athletic Trainer’s office at ext. 2741. Please see the documents in this binder to learn more about our online health system, and find the document needed for your next pediatrician appointment.
The school counselor serves the school community by addressing the psychological, social, and emotional health of students. The counselor is available to meet with students by appointment, as well as work with students in small group settings. You may schedule appointments with the counselor through the divisional offices.
Learning Support
The Oakridge School believes that brains are like fingerprints and that no two brains are the same. Each child has their unique gifts, experiences, and aptitudes. In response to students who struggle academically, we offer a variety of supports: study skills, executive functioning assistance, and individualized accommodation plans. Some examples of services for all students include smaller class sizes, study halls during the instructional day (MS and US), college preparatory curriculum, and counseling support for emotional and social issues. We support students with a diagnosed learning difference with accommodation plans custom-designed with input from parents, students, and teachers. These accommodations can come in the form of presentation, response, setting, and timing. The accommodation plans level the playing field but do not modify the college preparatory curriculum.
Athletics
All students entering grades 7-12 are encouraged to attend summer workouts. Workouts are June - July, Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM - 11:00AM, and include weight, agility, skills and cardio training. Students will need workout clothes, a water bottle, and gym/running shoes (cleats are optional – some training will be on grass).
Oakridge will be hosting Summer Sports Camps for Grades 1-8. Camp information and registration can be found on the Oakridge website. Click on the “MENU” tab, select “Campus Life”, then Summer Programs. Camps include baseball, volleyball, football, cheer, soccer and basketball.
Please email the following coaches if your child would like to join a team. Our no-cut policy allows any student to participate, no matter their previous experience.
If you have general questions about our athletic program, please contact our Head of Athletics, Chad MacDonald, or our Assistant Athletic Director, Reda Petraitis.
Fine Arts
The Oakridge School Fine Arts curriculum spans all divisions of the school from ECC to Upper School with the goal of building student confidence, discovering their unique voice, and fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Over an academic year, our scholar artists will demonstrate what they have learned in performances and exhibits held within and outside school hours. These events are not only meaningful for the students and our school community but also an invaluable part of the educational experience. A calendar of events for the year will be distributed by Arts faculty or divisional leadership.
Music Enrichment Program
Sixth-twelfth grade students enrolled in Choir, Strings, or Theater may apply to be a part of the Music Enrichment Program. This school day program pairs students with professional music coaches who focus on developing the student’s singing voice or instrumental technique. Lessons occur once a week usually during the student’s Fine Arts class and fees are paid directly to the lessons teacher. For more information contact Linda Love (voice) lindaflove@hotmail.com or Daniel Jamieson (strings) djamieson@theoakridgeschool.org. General inquiries can be made to Andrew Stewart, Director of Fine Arts, at astewart@theoakridgeschool.org.
For information about the after-school piano lessons program available to all Oakridge students, please contact Andrew Stewart at the email above.
Specific divisional information will be added throughout the summer. Please check back!
