Early Childhood

A Day in the Life of our Students

At The Oakridge School Early Childhood Center, our philosophy centers around providing a comprehensive education for young learners, emphasizing hands-on experiences that foster character development and leadership skills. Through a curriculum tailored to their developmental age and life experiences, we aim to create a nurturing environment that promotes self-esteem and independence. Our dedicated teachers employ the art of discovery, engaging students in experiential learning to make education an exciting adventure, setting the stage for a successful academic future.

Recognizing the importance of play in cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development, we prioritize both structured and unstructured play opportunities for our students. Daily routines include two to three 20-minute recesses, along with 20-30 minutes of Music and Movement. Additionally, students visit the STEAM Lab weekly, and Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes have a weekly library session for storytelling and book exploration, while Preschool students enjoy library story time twice a month. All students participate in Spanish lessons twice a week.

Our program accommodates various schedules, with Preschool classes meeting three (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) or five days a week. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes convene five days a week. The Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten day begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 2:30 p.m, while Kindergarteners start at 8:00 a.m. and finish at 2:45 p.m. To ensure an optimal learning environment, class sizes are capped at 12 for Preschool and 14 for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. Uniforms are required for all students. Our ultimate goal is to instill a love for learning and a sense of accomplishment, allowing children to leave our Early Childhood Center with confidence and enthusiasm for their educational journey.
