Owls Off and Running

The Oakridge Upper School Cross Country Team competed in the Grace Prep Invitational Meet this past Saturday. The weather was perfect for running, which really helped us out. Kim Simmons ran individually in the first varsity girls' race of the day, and competed well with a finish time of 17 minutes and 37 seconds for the two mile route. The varsity boys ran next on a 3.1 mile trek. Matt Green, Sean Davidson, and Erik Jacobs all finished in close fashion. They all three posted fantastic times. Matt finished at 21 minutes and 15 seconds, Sean Davidson finished at 21 minutes and 28 seconds, and Erik finished at 21 minutes and 37 seconds. Arun Ramakrishnan and Weston Seidler also ran very well with times of 23 minutes and 3 seconds and 25 minutes and 14 seconds respectively. Julia Gamache ran individually in the JV Girls' race and received a medal for top 15 "elite." She ran a terrific race with a time of 16 minutes and 2 seconds. The JV boys competed in the last race of the day. John Barulich, Isaac Melanson, and Cody Medford all ran very well. Cody set the tone for his team mates with a time of 24 minutes and 42 seconds. John finished with a time of 24 minutes and 52 seconds. Isaac crossed the line with a personal best time of 27 minutes and 32 seconds. Coach Henderson is very proud of the way that these athletes supported and encouraged each other throughout the races. Congratulations Owls! You represented our school well.
